The other day, Setsu’s son came over to visit with his dog, and the dog is staying with us for a little while. 🐕
Something unusual happened to the dog when it was time for Setsu’s son to leave.Usually, whenever Setsu’s son is getting ready to leave, the dog is right on his heels. He watches him constantly, follows him around the house, and makes sure he never loses sight of him for even a second. 😂And when it’s time to leave? Forget it. He’ll run straight for the front door and do everything he can to make sure he’s not left behind.
But this time was different.
The dog seemed a little different from the start.
When the moment finally came, we took him to the front door to see Setsu’s son off. We all expected him to try to chase him after, just like he always does.
Instead, something unexpected happened.
He didn’t run toward him.
He didn’t look up at him.
He didn’t try to follow him.
In fact, he turned his face away and wanted to walk back into our house.
It was a surprise behavior that everyone stopped and looked at each other.
And then we realized what had happened.
He knew.
He knew he wasn’t going home with Setsu’s son that day.
And somehow, he had already accepted it.
The realization hit all of us at once, and honestly, it was heartbreaking. 😭
Setsu later said that the dog had understood the situation long before that moment—that he already sensed what was happening and had been preparing himself for it.
Just thinking about that made our hearts ache.
We sometimes forget how deeply animals feel.
But in those few moments, this sweet dog showed us so much.
His pure devotion.
His deep love.
His honesty.
His sensitivity.
And most of all, his strength.
The strength to accept what is, even when it hurts.
Watching him made me wonder...
Am I living that honestly?
Am I allowing myself to feel my emotions so purely and openly?
Am I able to accept what is, even when it's difficult?
It’s amazing how sometimes the greatest lessons come from our furry teachers. 🐾💜

先日、Setsuのお家に息子ちゃんと彼が飼っているワンちゃんがわたしたちのお家に遊びにきていました。今、そのワンちゃんを、一時的に預かっているのですが、ワンちゃんが息子ちゃんとのお別れの時にとった行動が印象的だったので、シェアさせてください🐕
息子ちゃんが帰るという日、いつもとはまったく違う驚きの行動に出たんです。
いつも帰り際になると、ワンちゃんは絶対に置いていかれないようにと、息子ちゃんのことをずっと目で追い、家中をついて行って、一瞬たりとも視線を外さないんですね（笑）でもその日は違っていたんです。
いよいよ息子ちゃんが帰るというとき、いつもは外に突っ走っていって、必死に息子ちゃんについていこうとするのに、その日は玄関を一緒に出たあと、息子ちゃんの方に駆け寄るでもなく、目を見ることもなく、顔を背けて、自ら私たちの家の中へ戻ろうとしたんです！
その場にいたみんなはその行為にびっくりしたと同時に、
「今日は一緒に帰れないんだ」と受け入れたんだ！とわかったんです。それがわかると、わたしたちもワンちゃんの胸の痛みや辛さがわかって、すごく切ない気持ちになりました。
Setsu曰く、ワンちゃんは、帰る少し前からすでにこの状況をわかっていて受け入れていたのよ、と。。。😭
ワンちゃんも、こんなにもあふれんばかりの感情を持っているなんて。
たった数分の出来事でしたが、いろんな感情の深さを見せてくれました。
一途でピュアな心、深い愛情、健気さ、素直な感情表現、そして何よりも、受け入れるという覚悟と強さ。
自分はこんな風に生きれているのかな？
こんな風にピュアに無邪気に素直に生きれているのかな？
見せてくれて、自分に問うチャンスをくれて、教えてくれてありがとう。
El otro día, el hijo de Setsu vino a visitarnos con su perrito, y ahora el perrito se está quedando con nosotros por un tiempo. 🐕
Cuando llegó el momento de que el hijo de Setsu se fuera, el perrito mostró un comportamiento muy diferente de lo habitual.
Normalmente, cuando ve que su dueño se está preparando para salir, lo sigue a todas partes. No le quita los ojos de encima ni por un segundo y se asegura de no perderlo de vista. 😂
Y cuando llega la hora de irse, ni hablar... corre directo hacia la puerta y hace todo lo posible para no quedarse atrás.
Pero esta vez fue diferente.
Desde el principio, el perrito parecía distinto.
Cuando finalmente llegó el momento de despedirse, lo llevamos hasta la puerta para ver partir al hijo de Setsu. Todos esperábamos que intentara correr detrás de él, como siempre hace.
Pero ocurrió algo inesperado.
No corrió hacia él.
No levantó la mirada para verlo.
No intentó seguirlo.
De hecho, apartó la cara y quiso regresar a la casa por su cuenta.
Su comportamiento nos sorprendió tanto que todos nos quedamos mirándonos unos a otros.
Y entonces lo entendimos.
Él ya lo sabía.
Sabía que ese día no volvería a casa con el hijo de Setsu.
Y de alguna manera, ya lo había aceptado.
La realidad de ese momento nos golpeó a todos al mismo tiempo y, sinceramente, nos rompió el corazón. 😭
Más tarde, Setsu comentó que el perrito probablemente había entendido la situación mucho antes de ese momento; que ya percibía lo que estaba ocurriendo y se había estado preparando para ello.
Solo pensarlo me llena de tristeza.
A veces olvidamos lo profundamente que sienten los animales.
Pero en esos pocos minutos, este dulce perrito nos mostró muchísimo.
Su devoción incondicional.
Su profundo amor.
Su sinceridad.
Su sensibilidad.
Y, sobre todo, su fortaleza.
La fortaleza de aceptar lo que es, incluso cuando duele.
Al verlo, no pude evitar preguntarme...
¿Estoy viviendo con esa misma honestidad?
¿Me permito sentir mis emociones de una manera tan pura y abierta?
¿Soy capaz de aceptar lo que es, incluso cuando resulta difícil?
Es increíble cómo, a veces, las lecciones más grandes vienen de nuestros pequeños maestros peludos. 🐾💜
