Congratulations on Receiving the Michelin Star! 🌟

We are overjoyed to share that Chef Toshi, the owner of Kizaki, an omakase sushi restaurant in Denver, Colorado, has been awarded a Michelin Star!

We first received the wonderful news from our Denver coordinator, Yumi, who shared, “Toshi’s restaurant Kizaki has received a Michelin Star!” Shortly after, Toshi himself called us to share his excitement.

On the phone, he said,

“This Michelin recognition is all thanks to my staff, team, and customers!”

With even greater excitement, he added,

“Can you believe it? Two restaurants in the same building earned Michelin Stars! (Kizaki and the French restaurant Margot, located in the same building!)”

He continued,

“For two Michelin-starred restaurants to emerge from the same location within just six months of opening—it’s truly a miracle. It’s thanks to Setsu’s space cleansing!”

Hearing those words directly from him moved us deeply—it truly gave us chills of joy.

Kizaki opened just this April, and within only a few short months, it has already earned this incredible honor. Chef Toshi is also the owner of Denver’s renowned restaurants Sushi Den, Izakaya Den, and Ototo. Sushi Den continues to be ranked as Denver’s No.1 sushi restaurant.

The stretch of Pearl Street where his restaurants stand is so beloved that locals affectionately call it “Toshi Street.” Every one of his restaurants fills up as soon as the doors open, regardless of the day of the week.

Over 40 years ago, when sushi was still largely unknown in the U.S., Toshi opened Sushi Den and has continued to captivate guests with his refined, artful creations—offering unmatched freshness, flavor, and beauty. His passion is evident not only in his culinary excellence but also in the thoughtful design and architecture of his spaces.

Our connection with Toshi began 15 years ago, thanks to our wonderful Denver coordinator, Yumi, who believed,

“If people could meet Setsu, many lives would be uplifted.”

Since then, Setsu has been invited to Denver for sessions and has had the honor of doing space cleansing for Toshi’s restaurants.

For Kizaki, it all began even before construction—when the land was still bare. Toshi warmly shared his blueprints and vision for the future with Setsu. Years later, that vision came to life. This May, Setsu was invited again to do the space cleansing for the completed Kizaki.

We were deeply moved as Toshi personally showed us around the space, filled with his devotion—from the custom black stone walls and his hand-designed fish emblem on the exterior, to the intimate counter and private rooms—all infused with his signature artistry and heart.
